Stepping UP Daycare Inc. is a Licensed daycare, located on a quiet street conveniently just around the corner from the Greenbank Hunt Club Centre.

Program Statement

Stepping UP believes that every child is competent, capable of complex thinking, curious, and rich in potential. Therefore, we actively promote education through fun which leads to knowledge; sharing our kindness with each other in a respectful manner and, encouraging individual creativity which, helps develop confidence.

Stepping UP believes children learn through play and that every child is an active and engaged learner who explores the world with body, mind, and senses. We allow for children to be hands on while learning and keep each child engaged and excited about learning. Each child is exposed to a variety of activities, and materials appropriate to each age group to ensure meaningful exploration, play, and inquiry. The children have appropriate amounts of self-initiated play, group activities, and outdoor endeavors to ensure the overall health and happiness of each child.

We believe preparing children for each developmental stage ahead is key to their overall success.

It all started one sunny and snow filled afternoon. Lindsay was on maternity leave and wondering where the next steps in her life should be taken. With two wonderful and unique children, care for them was at the forefront of her mind. Krista, on the other hand, whose children are all school age, was recognizing the huge need in the community for an education-based daycare facility in the neighbourhood.

We began talking. The fundamental needs and structure were immediately agreed upon and, by the end of that first discussion, the principle directives for the daycare were established – kindness, respect, confidence, knowledge and creativity in a child directed, fun and educational environment.

We had agreed on the direction before we even recognized that we had just made the leap that would set us on a new path. We had made the first steps forward in a new partnership and, a new business.

The organic nature of the conversations confirmed that we would be great partners and complement each other’s strengths. Our passion for how little ones’ minds work and their love of life was completely aligned.

We continue on our path and look forward to working with our family, friends and neighbours who walk with us each step of the way!

We are continuously impressed with Stepping Up and the level of care that our daughter receives there. The beginning of daycare after maternity leave was something that I thought was going to be really stressful and emotional, but Lindsay and her staff made the transition so easy on all of us. Words cannot express how lucky we were to get spots for our two youngest children at Stepping Up Daycare. My daughter loves to go to “school” there. They make learning fun and the teachers and staff are all very warm and welcoming. My son has multiple severe food allergies and Stepping Up has gone above and beyond to accommodate his needs.
